Things had been busy on the Enterprise-D.
Morgan and Tonia had returned from the Shore Leave on Risa married, so the senior staff had thrown them a reception. Then, of course, because nothing could ever go uninterrupted on a ship by the name of Enterprise, they had been called to help a ship that had been attacked before the night was through. After helping the ship back to its home planet, they had then assisted with an outbreak in a nearby sector.
The ship was now heading back to Deep Space Nine. Leonard and Jim had both gotten the day off, but unfortunately Athena hadn't been able to since she was in the middle of a project. Leonard had suggested delaying his day off for a time when Athena could join them; however, she told them to have some fun with Jaime. Leonard had relented...while hoping that maybe she'd be able to duck out of her shift early to join them.
It was gonna be nice to spend time with Jim, though.
They'd decided to have a picnic with Jaime on the holodeck. She wanted to bring her stuffed animals, of course, so they'd turned it into a Teddy Bears' picnic. Leonard had set up the program - he'd actually gotten quite good at working with the computer on that sort of thing - and then he brought her stuffed animals down and set them up so they would be waiting when they arrived. The setting was perfect. It was a clearing in a forest with tall trees and sunlight peaking through.
Once everything was ready, he went back to their quarters to find Jim and Jaime.
"You two ready?" he asked with a grin.

"Computer, is Teddy Bear Picnic One still running," he asked.
"Affirmative," the computer answered. "You may enter when ready."
Walking to the door, it slid open to reveal the forest. A soft breeze was blowing, and there was soft music coming from somewhere.
"Ohhhh," Jaime cooed, bouncing in Leo's arms. He let her down as they walked in, the doors closing behind them to complete the illusion. A few moments later, their daughter caught sight of her teddy bears waiting in the picnic area, and she jumped in excitement. "Bears, Papa! Bears!"
She tugged on Jim's hand to get him to move faster.

Laughing, he let Jaime tug him closer to the blanket. Once they were there, Jaime stared at her teddy bears for a long moment before deciding to sit next to the purple one Quark claimed he had found. All of them knew he'd gotten it for her, especially after they found a price code on it.
Once Jaime was settled, Jim sat down and tugged Bones down beside him. "This is really nice," he said again before leaning over to softly kiss his husband.
Pulling back, he laughed when he saw Jaime going toward the picnic basket. He opened the lid for her and found a container on top with a note. Jim took it out and pulled the note off. "It's from your mommy. She says she's sorry she can't be here but she made us chocolate chip cookies," he said as he showed Jaime the cookies.
"Cookies!" she said as she grabbed at them.
"Not yet, pumpkin. Lets have some real food first," he laughed.

He wasn't surprised when Jaime settled herself next to the purple one. For some reason, she liked Quark. Just like she liked Worf. Most human children were often scared by Ferengi or Klingons, but not her. Maybe it was because she had a way of wrapping them around her finger so easily.
He then let Jim tugged him down and smiled against his husband's lips. "Hmmm...think I might hav'ta do this more often if I get this sort of reward."
The cookies that Athena had left for them made him smile as well. Taking the container from Jim to keep it out of a little set of grabby hands, he put it aside and then took out a juice container, pulling out the straw.
"Here ya go, sweetie," he said as he handed it to Jaime. "You start with that while we get the food out."
"Okay!"
She happily drank while they got the rest of their lunch out and made up the plates. He could see Jaime was pleased to see some of her favorite foods, so once they set the plate down, she immediately put her juice down and started to eat, pretending to feed her bear as she did, causing Leonard to chuckle.

"I hear water," he said as he scanned the area. When he saw the little lake his husband had placed in the program, he grinned. "Does this mean we're going swimming later or is that for decoration?"
"'Wimming!" Jaime said as she bounced in place. "Go, dada?"

Date: 2010-08-14 02:43 am (UTC)From:He then took one for himself and unwrapped it to set on his plate. Soon, all of them had their food, and he leaned back, taking a bite of some fruit.
"Well, I had a feeling that if this little one found out there was a lake here, she'd want to go swimmin'," he said, looking over at Jaime with a grin. "And looks like I was right. I brought our suits down with the bears, so we can go swimmin' later."
"Yay!" Jaime cheered before taking another bite of her food.
"It's nice to actually have a day off," Leonard remarked before eating some of his sandwich. "Nice to see ya actually relaxin' too."

Date: 2010-08-14 03:54 am (UTC)From:Settling again, Jim ate more of his sandwich as he kept an eye on Jaime. When she tried to pour her juice on one of her bears, he stopped her and told her bears didn't like juice showers. The little girl nodded and went back to eating.
When Leonard made his comment, Jim looked over at him and nodded. "It feels good to relax. I was starting to worry if I didn't, Athena was going to steal one of your hypos and use it on me," he said with a laugh.
"Mama work stupid!" Jaime said with a huff and a look that reminded Jim very much of Leonard.
"Yes, Momma not being here is kind of stupid but hopefully she'll be able to come soon," Jim said.
All of them ate a bit more before it became obvious Jaime was getting bored so they decided to clean up and take a swim. Once Jim had Jaime's suit on her, he quickly got his own on.
"You two ready?" he asked.

"Yeah, I wouldn't put it past her to've done somethin' like that." He then looked over at Jaime and laughed. He certainly agreed with her sentiment at the moment. But sometimes, duty schedules were stupid.
Once they were done and had cleaned up, Leonard followed them down to the lake and grabbed his suit while Jim took care of getting Jaime ready. He got changed into his and then nodded at Jim.
"Ready. C'mon, sweetie."
He picked Jaime up and waded into the water with her. The temperature, of course, was perfect.
"Kick, Dada!" she exclaimed kicking her feet out into the water. And splashing Jim in the process, causing Leonard to laugh.
"You got Papa all wet."

He cupped some water in his hand and softly splashed it at Jaime, which made the little girl giggle and kick her legs around.
"Get, dada!" she said.
"Well, if you insist," Jim said before he gave his husband and started to splash him with as much water as he could get. Of course, he got Jaime wet too, which made the little girl giggle even more.
"I better stop now or your Daddy is going to get mad at me," Jim said with a laugh.

As the water hit him, he snorted, which of course, got it up his nose and caused him to cough. Which Jaime in turn found hysterical in addition to the fact that she was getting wet too.
"Not gonna get mad," he told him with a laugh. "Just gonna find a time to get even. Ya just won't know when."
Giving him a grin, he leaned over and kissed him before moving through the water with Jaime. This really was turning out to be a great day.
"Hey, Jaime, wanna try swimming to your Papa?" he asked, moving just a couple of feet from him.
"Yes!" she giggled before pushing away from him and kicking over to Jim. "Papa!"

"You're our little mermaid, aren't you?" he said as Jaime laughed and nodded her head.
"Mermaid!" she repeated as she kicked her feet in the air.
Laughing, Jim waited for her to stop kicking before he settled her on his hip. He kissed her temple and bounced her in his arms. "I'm pretty sure she's going to be out for the count by the time we go back to our quarters," he laughed.

Date: 2010-08-16 12:04 am (UTC)From:Once Jaime managed to swim over into Jim's arms, he grinned, laughing at her excitement. She was their little mermaid, their little dancer, their little adventurer. She was quite the active little girl, and he had a feeling she was going to want to do many things when she grew up, especially with the three parents she had in her life.
"I think you're right," he told Jim with a chuckle. "You've had a pretty excitin' day, haven't you?"
"Yeah!" she said before jumping out of Jim's arm at him.
"Woah!" he said, managing to catch her. He then looked at Jim. "Looks like she's our little kangaroo too."

Date: 2010-08-16 12:52 am (UTC)From:"Momma!" Jaime suddenly cried out before she pointed toward the shore.
Turning, Jim grinned when he saw Athena coming toward the lake. "They let you out early?" he asked.
"I left," she said with a laugh.
"Momma, swim!" Jaime clapped.
Athena asked the computer for a swimsuit and when it appeared, she stripped out of her clothes to put it on. Of course, Jim stared because their wife was beautiful and seeing her naked in the sun was a sight he liked looking at.
Once she was ready, she dove into the water and came over to them. Jaime held out her arms so Athena took her.
"How's my girl?" she asked as she cuddled her daughter close. "Keeping your daddy and papa in line?"

Date: 2010-08-16 11:04 pm (UTC)From:"I'll write ya a note if you get caught," he promised her before watching as she changed into her swimsuit. Yeah, he was a perv when it came to his spouses, but he couldn't be blamed really - they was great looking. He was a lucky guy.
And then seeing her with their daughter in her arms once she joined them was as beautiful as always.
"We splashed!" Jaime giggled as she hugged her mother. "And jumped!"
Leonard chuckled. "She's been enjoyin' herself a lot. Had a good lunch too with the bears. Even tried to feed 'em." Leaning over, he kissed Athena softly. "So glad you're here."
